GILBERT, Lori Elizabeth (Ciesielski) - of Flint, MI, age 61, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2019 after losing a long battle with metastatic breast cancer. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors 12-4 PM Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for a charitable monetary donation to Hospice House of Shiawassee County, 2005 Copas Road, Owosso, MI 48867, where Lori spent her final days.
Lori was born February 22, 1958 in Flint, MI. She was one of seven children born to the late Lawrence “Larry” and Lois (Belford) Ciesielski. Lori was a graduate of Davison High School Class of 1976. After graduation, Lori began her career in the healthcare field at St. Joseph/Genesys Hospitals for 30+ years working in the dietary department and later as a CNA. Lori enjoyed life's simpler pleasures in her free time, as she always put her children first, attending almost every one of her children’s sports games and after school activities. She was an avid nature lover and loved to spend any time she could at the family cabin next to the AuSable River in Grayling and the family cottage of her youth in Torch Lake. She had a profound love for sports, especially the Detroit Tigers baseball and Michigan State Spartans football. She was an enormous lover of animals and was known for rescuing several neighborhood strays. Lori was always known for her optimistic outlook on life and always put the comfort and needs of others in front of her own.
Lori is survived by her partner, Daniel Gilbert; 2 adult children, Cristian (Shannon Strickland) Gilbert and Allison (Paul Mazzola) Gilbert; 5 brothers, Larry, Lonnie, Lynn, Lee and Logan; sister, Levi. She also leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews and life-long friends. These friends include Kate, Jean, Bridget and Joyce, who all remained by her side until the very end. She was preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Lois Ciesielski.
