Russell "Russ" Leonard Olsey of Dewitt, Michigan, passed away on February 24, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on March 28, 1950, to the late Stanley and Nina Olsey, his life was a testament to hard work, family, and cherished memories.
On September 25, 1971, he married his beloved wife, Rosemary "Rose" Bissonnette, and together they shared a beautiful life filled with love and adventure. For over 35 years, Russ dedicated himself to his work as a skilled trades Millwright at General Motors, where he was respected for his craftsmanship and commitment.
Russ had a passion for the outdoors, finding joy in gardening and hunting. One of his greatest loves was the annual camping trips to Burt Lake State Park in Indian River, where he created lasting memories with Rose and their daughters Jen and Kim. He delighted in the vibrant fall colors during trips to Traverse City, visiting Aunt Beth and Uncle Gene, further enriching his family's life with deep connections.
A true car enthusiast, Russ took pride in his 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air, affectionately named "Christine." He spent countless hours attending car shows, celebrating a shared passion with fellow enthusiasts including his brothers.
Most importantly, Russ treasured moments with his daughters and grandchildren. His love for music was another joy; he spent many afternoons creating mixed tapes from the radio, bringing happiness to everyone around him.
Russ is survived by his daughters Jennifer (Michael) Ashton and Kimberly (Mike) Wykes, his grandchildren: Andrew, Alexa, Aubrey and Olivia, his brothers: Ronald (MaryAnn) Olsey and Raymond (Debbie) Olsey and sister Randi (Rick) Maguire. He was preceded in death by his parents and his devoted wife, Rose.
As family and friends gather to remember Russ, we will celebrate a life well-lived, Monday, March 2, 2026 from 4:00-8:00pm at Reigle Funeral Home 5501 W. Pierson Rd Flushing, Michigan 48433 and on Tuesday Funeral service at 11:00 am with visitation one hour prior to service also at Reigle Funeral home. |
