Myers, Robert William, of Flushing, age 82, died on Tuesday, July 14th, 2026, surrounded by family in the comfort of his home. In accordance with Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, August 30, 2026 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the residence of Bob and Ginny. Those planning to attend may contact the family or the funeral home to obtain the address.
Bob was born on December 8th, 1943, in Flint, Michigan, the son of Lloyd and Marjorie (Herfurth) Myers. He graduated from Michigan State University, where he met his future wife, Ginny Franz. The two were college sweethearts and married on February 25th, 1967. After graduating college, he proudly served in the United States Army. A dedicated Spartan, Bob faithfully followed Michigan State athletics and never missed an opportunity to watch an MSU basketball game. His love for Michigan State became a family tradition, with both daughters graduating from MSU and two grandchildren carrying on the Spartan legacy.
Bob was the co-owner and operator of Myers Building Company with his wife Ginny, mainly serving Genesee County and the surrounding communities. He took great pride in his work and the reputation he built over the years as a quality custom home builder. In his younger days, he loved boat racing and snowmobiling. He found enjoyment in boating the Great Lakes with family and friends and, later in life, traveling the country in his RV with Ginny.
Bob was a man who would much rather do things for others than have things done for him. He was generous, honest, and loved his family most of all, making it a point to never miss a grandkid’s recital, performance, game, or event. His generosity included funding a vocational scholarship at the local high school.
Friends and family knew Bob as easy going, friendly, and optimistic. He was happiest when he was helping family or acting as a handyman. Those who knew and loved him best also knew he had a wonderful sense of humor, and he kept every family interaction filled with laughter.
He is survived by his wife, Ginny Myers; daughters, Julie (Rob) Borruso and Nora (John) King; grandchildren, Sophia Borruso, Veronica Borruso, Sydney King and William “Wiley” King; and nephews, Mike (Nicole Fitzpatrick) Myers and Todd Myers.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Myers.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory are suggested to the Gary Sinise Foundation. |
