VanDyke, Dallis L. – of Clio, age 65, passed away Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Dallis was born December 31, 1957, in Buchanan County, Virgina to Emory and Walsie (Cantrell) VanDyke. He attended Carmen High School, graduating with the class of 1978. He married Marci Pinder on August 16, 1986. They shared 37 wonderful years together. Dallis was proud to be a Millwright who worked at General Motors and retired after 32 years. Dallis enjoyed riding his trike and decorating for Halloween. In Dallis’ younger life, he enjoyed working on race cars, which is how he met his wife. After Dallis became a father, he loved to attend and coach his children’s sporting events and lead their boy scout troops. After retirement, Dallis enjoyed spending his winters in Florida with his wife and friends. He took up fishing and building aluminum can air planes. During the summer months, Dallis loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. Throughout his life, he was known to be a jack-of-all trades and enjoyed helping anyone in need. More than anything he was an amazing husband, Dad, and Grandpa who will be missed by many.
Surviving are: Wife of 37 years, Marci VanDyke; Mother, Walsie VanDyke; Children: Casie (Christopher) Horton, Joseph (Anna) VanDyke, Rodney (Jamie) VanDyke, and Robert (Kalei) VanDyke; Grandchildren: Maisy, Rylan, Laela, Brynlea, Kaitlyn, and Cody Dallis; Brothers: Donald (Betty) VanDyke, Ray (Sabrina) VanDyke; Sisters: Connie VanDyke, and Norma (Dale) Kitter; and Several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Emory VanDyke. |
