VISSER (TIMMER), Gertrude Louise – Of Vienna Township, age 96, died Friday, January 21, 2022 at Gross Assisted Living.
Funeral service will be held 11am Friday, January 28, 2022 at Richfield Church of the Nazarene, 7524 E. Mt. Morris Road, Otisville, MI.
Reverend Janice Duce officiating.
Burial in Sunset Hills Cemetery.
Visitation 6-8pm Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Visitation 10am Friday at church until the time of the service.
Gertrude was born on December 21, 1925 in Hudsonville, Michigan the daughter of John and Mary (VanLangeveld) Timmer. Gertrude spent her childhood in Imlay City, Michigan, going to school and helping on the family vegetable farm. She moved to Flint, Michigan in 1948 when she married Clarence Visser. She then moved to Florida in 1999, where she developed many treasured friendships. Most of those friendships thrived on playing cards, which was one of her passions. Each of us has many happy memories of laughter and fun shared while playing cards. The central theme of Gertrude’s life was love and kindness. There was no question that she loved her family unconditionally. She taught them to love God, each other, and their fellow man. It is her family’s goal to pass her legacy of love down through the generations. "Best Mom Ever" to one daughter and five sons, Awesome "Grandma" to 16 grandchildren and Beloved "Granny" to 38 great-grandchildren.
Surviving are children, Linda (Larry) Andrews, Larry (Kay) Visser, Leon Visser, Les Visser, Lyle (Bonnie) Visser, Leonard Visser;
16 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren;
brother, John Timmer, Jr.;
sisters-in-law, Fannie Timmer and Jeannette Timmer;
and several beloved nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Abe Timmer, Gerrit Timmer, and Ed Timmer; sisters, Gertie Timmer, Riena Timmer, Kriena Timmer Jager and Mary Timmer, Sisters-in-law, Jane Timmer, Ann Timmer and brother-in-law, John Jager.
