SNIFF, Herbert – of Montrose, age 80, died Sunday, July 5, 2026, he passed away peacefully at his residence with his devoted son-in-law, Kenny, by his side. Their close relationship was a source of strength and joy to them both, and Kenny’s faithful presence was a reflection of the deep love they shared. Funeral service will be held at 12PM on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. Pastor Jordan Herrera officiating. Burial in Hammond Cemetery to follow. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 11AM until the time of service at 12PM. In lieu of flowers, those who desire may make memorial contributions to the family for future designation.
Herb was born on New Year's Day in 1946, in Saginaw, to the late Richard and Marjori Stadler. He attended Millington Community Schools. Prior to his retirement, Herb – known to many of his coworkers as "Cranky Herb" – worked as a heavy equipment operator at Pollards in Montrose for more than 40 years. On October 2, 1981, he married the love of his life, Laura Creed, and together they shared 40 years of marriage before her passing in 2021. Herb enjoyed operating heavy equipment, traveling, camping, and, most of all, taking his motorcycle out for a ride. He was a man everyone could rely on. Herb will be dearly missed.
Herb is forever remembered by: Children: Tamie (Scott) Haught, Christine (Mike) Kosha, Angela (Ken) Bailey-Bedtelyon; Stepdaughters: Lori Bailey, and Tammy (Brian) DeWitt; 32 Grandchildren; 26 Great Grandchildren; Brother, Willard Stadler, One sister; Best friend and loyal companion, Pretty Boy; Many nieces, nephews, extended family, and wonderful friends. Herb was preceded in death by: Wife, Laura Sniff; Stepson, David Bailey; Granddaughter, Shelby Buck; Great Grandson, Zayden Klein; Son-in-law, Rick Lansford
