FLOYD WILLIAM ROWLAND “RAY” “BUTCH” “THUNDER”– Of Burton, age 83, passed away Tuesday, March 16, 2026 at Wellbridge of Grand Blanc.
Visitation will be held from 1-8pm on Sunday, March 22, 2026 at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint and 11am Monday at the church until the time of Mass. A vigil will be held at 7pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral Mass will be held at 12pm Monday, March 23, 2026 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton.
Memorial contribution maybe directed to Wounded Warriors of America or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Ray was born on February 12, 1943 in Greenville, Michigan. Ray attended Haslett High School then went to Baker College. He proudly served in the US Army from 1960 to 1962. He worked at GM Lansing Assembly, Pontiac Fisher Body and GM Lake Orion. He was laid off from General Motors from 1980-1984 and during that time he obtained a Builders License which he used throughout the years. Ray retired from Lake Orion Plant in 2003. Ray loved bowling, playing cards and golf. He played on the GM Golf League and achieved a hole in one on the 8th hole at Heather Highlands on October 29, 1989.
On January 28, 1977 Ray married Frances (Fran) Bienlein at Holy Redeemer. Ray is survived by Fran and their children, Michelle (Bill) Racy, Joe Zelley Jr. (Lori), Blake (Jesika) Rowland;
Grandchildren, Nick Eddy (Kayla), Gabrielle (Justin) Streton, Justin Zepeda, Alex (Collin) Friday, Keith Robinson, Maddie Rae (Justin) Major, Stephen Zelley, Annie (Ricky) Argue, SamMi Zelley, Stacy (Aiden) Reynolds, Lacey Finch, Teddy (Anna) Robinson, and Lexi Finch and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Viola and Frank Frisbie, his siblings, Patricia (Omar)Gregory, Jerry Frisbie and Hank Rowland; parents-in-law James and Bertha Bienlein, brother-in-law James Bienlein, nephews Chuck and Randy Humble.
