Leslie James Chrysler (Jim), of Montrose,
passed away after a courageous and enduring battle with cancer. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on October 23, 2025 at the age of 79.
Jim was born on August 25, 1946, in Saginaw, Michigan, one of seven children born to the late Royal Chrysler and Donah (Moses) Chrysler. He was a 1964 graduate of Chesaning Union High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Sally Ann McCormic on August 28, 1965. They shared 25 plus years together before her passing in 1990. They raised three children and built a beautiful home in the Chesaning area. After high school, Jim served his county in the United States Navy from 1963 until 1967. After his time in the military, he attended Mott Community College, taking classes to complete his apprenticeship in Masonry. He was a brick mason for over 40 years and was a lifetime member of the Michigan BAC Local 2 union. His commitment to supporting apprentices and ensuring their success in the trade left a lasting impact on everyone who worked with him.
He married the former Karen Goddard on June 18, 1994. Their blended family consisting of her two children and his three children continued to expand with seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Jim was a family man at heart. He loved his large family and its many gatherings. All were welcome at Jim's house, and no one left empty-handed or hungry. He was an avid hunter who made everyone in the family go through hunters’ safety classes -- even Karen! He and Karen enjoyed years of traveling together. Jim and Karen loved their cabin on Higgins Lake where the entire family would join them, creating lasting memories.
Jim is survived by his wife, Karen Chrysler; children, Sally Wilkinson, Leslie James Chrysler II "Les" (Lynn), Vicki (Richard) McGlaughlin, Christopher Wells, and Colleen (Anthony) Brown; grandchildren, David (Autumn) Carter, Sara Wilkinson, Leslie James Chrysler III ”Jimmy” (Katie), Sammy Chrysler (Chadd Kinsey), Kaitlyn McGlaughlin, Kaleb McGlaughlin (Caitlyn Moore), and Amyra Brown; great-grandchildren, Ellie, Lily, Jimmy IV, and Maddie; siblings, Donah (Dale) Hyland, Duane (Linda) Chrysler, Marie Hamilton, Judy (Kenny) Wells, Frank (Anna) Chrysler; siblings-in-law, Gerry Lynn Chrysler, Alice Grisham, Terry (Joyce) McCormic, Mark (Becky) McCormic, and Ruthann Tottingham; many nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Royal and Donah Chrysler, first wife, Sally Chrysler, brother, Dale Chrysler, and brother-in-law, Bill Hamilton.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at McGeehan Funeral Home - Martin Chapel, Chesaning, Michigan. Funeral services will take place on Monday, October 27, 2025, at 1:00 pm, with visitation from 11:00 am until the time of service, at McGeehan Funeral Home - Martin Chapel, Chesaning, Michigan. Burial will follow at Wildwood Cemetery in Chesaning.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Michigan BAC Community Service and Scholarship Fund, in memory of Leslie (Jim) James Chrysler, to support apprentices in the Michigan Trowel Trades Apprenticeship and Training Program.
