CRUMM, The Rev. Donald – of Goodrich, age 88, passed away September 20, 2014 at American House-Grand Blanc. A Funeral Service will be held 3 PM Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Goodrich United Methodist Church, 8071 S. State Rd., Goodrich; Rev. Jeremy Africa officiating. Burial, with Military Honors will be in Goodrich Cemetery. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 PM Saturday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison. On Sunday, visitation will be at the church from 2 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Henderson Settlement of Frakes, Kentucky or Heifer International or Goodrich United Methodist Church Music Department.
Donald was born in Ida, MI on December 14, 1925, son of the late Hazel and Otis Crumm. He married Barbara Yunker in Howe, Indiana on June 6, 1950. Don served in the U.S. Navy Signal Corps in World War II, assigned to the Aleutian Islands. He graduated post-war from Adrian College and Drew Theological Seminary in New Jersey. Ordained as a United Methodist Minister, Don served churches around Michigan in Allen Park, Detroit, Bay City, Southfield, Waterford, Goodrich, Hope, Edenville, Brent Creek and Northwest Venice. In January 2014, Don was awarded the Detroit Annual Conference Cane, a 110 year old ceremonial cane, which is given to the oldest minister in the region, with more than 35 years of service as a pastor.
Don is survived by his wife, Barbara; son, David (Amy) Crumm; daughter-in-law, Joann Crumm; daughter, Shauna (Daniel) Weil; son, John Crumm; grandchildren, Rev. Megan and Rev. Joel Walther, Benjamin Crumm, Nicholas and Michele Weil, Drew Weil, Stephanie Weil, Ian Crumm, Amber Crumm and John Thomas Crumm; siblings, Sharon Balk, Daniel (Jill) Crumm, Sara Jane Pierce. He was preceded in death by his son, Stephen; brother, Keith.
