GROVOM, Twyla Mae – of Clio, age 77, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Hurley Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, December 13, 2013 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 520 Butler St. in Clio. Pastor Erik Cloeter officiating. Cremation to follow with final inurnment in Great Lake National Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church on Thursday from 4-6PM and on Friday from 10 AM until time of services at 11 AM. Contributions may be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church.
Twyla was born July 27, 1936 in Flint to the late Beulah (Agle) and Harold Wallace. She was a resident of Clio the past 45 years and wintered in N. Fort Myers, FL for 15 years. She married Donald Grovom on June 16, 1962. He preceded her in death on October 15, 2011. She worked at AC Spark Plug for many years and was a lifelong beautician. Mrs. Grovom was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where she cooked for the Vicars for 35 years and St. Michaels Lutheran Church in Ft. Myers. She was a devoted Christian, active in the church Bible Class and Red Hatter. She was a member of the Michigan Knights of the Highway (FMCA) and UAW. Twyla enjoyed golfing and traveling with her motorhome group.
Surviving are: daughters, Michelle McAra of FL, Tracy (John) Koncz of FL, Felicia (Don) Robinson of Clio; 7 grandchildren, Eric, Abbey, Krista, Renee, Tom, Michael and Rachelle; 3 great grandchildren, Seth, Lillian and Bryson; sister, Joyce (Gary) of Flushing; several nieces and nephews; canine companion, Tippy.
