He was born in Flint, MI on May 16, 1963, son of Douglas and the late Barbara (Pitkin) Chartrand.
Bryan was a graduate of Grand Blanc High School and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from Baker College, achievements that reflected his dedication and perseverance. On March 13, 1999, he married Jacqueline Aagesen, beginning a loving partnership and countless cherished moments that will forever be held close by those who knew and loved them. He was a strong, hardworking man—a carpenter by trade—who learned his craft at a young age alongside his father and uncles. He took pride in his work and in doing things the right way. Always ready to fix something if he couldn’t fix it, no one could. He was a kind-hearted, generous man who was always ready to lend a hand. Whether it was fixing something, offering advice, or simply showing up, Bryan was there. He would give the shirt off his back to someone in need, never expecting anything in return. Above all else, Bryan was a devoted father. He was always present for his girls, supporting them and carrying their needs. To his grandchildren, he was everything. He played with them endlessly, laughed loudly, and loved them fiercely. Those moments—full of joy, imagination, and love—are memories that will live on forever. Bryan was known for his dimples, his booming laugh, and the way he always reassured those around him by saying, “It’ll all work out.” And somehow, when Bryan said it, you believed him. He was a loving husband, a loyal friend, and someone who truly loved life. He enjoyed the outdoors and lived to play hard. Golf was one of his great joys, where he could be found on the course, laughing with friends and sharing stories. His presence filled every space he entered—his voice, his laughter, his warmth. Bryan’s journey took him from Chartrand construction to college and eventually to owning and running Bishop Construction, where he spent many successful years. No matter where life took him, Bryan carried with him a deep belief in people. He always looked for the good, choosing hope, even when things were difficult.
He will live on in our hearts forever and will be missed beyond measure.
Bryan leaves behind his beloved wife, of 27 years, Jacqueline Chartrand; his 2 daughters, Cecily Ann Sweers (Andy Sweers) and Olivia Grace Bacca (Daxar Bacca); his 2 cherished grandchildren, Ezra Kenneth Bacca and Julia Margaret Sweers; his father, Douglas Chartrand; 2 siblings, Doug (Chris) Chartrand and Laura (David) Dollinger; 3 nephews, Kevin Chartrand, Adam (Sherin) Chartrand and Lucas Dollinger; 2 nieces, Melissa (Trent) Baird and Emily (Adrian) Esh; many other loving family members and good friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Gene Chartrand; grandparents, Buel and Margaret Pitkin and Jerome and Ruth Chartrand.
Bryan’s loss will be felt deeply by all who knew and loved him.
