Lawrence, Thomas Jr., died Sunday July 10, 2021, at his residence. He was a lifelong resident of Flint, Michigan, Tommy was a graduate of Flint Central High School, the attended Kettering University. He was also an Honor Veteran in Marines Corp. He was a selfless, generous, caring, and loving mentor to everyone he met. Tommy was born on December 24, 1932. He was the son of Thomas Sr. and Rosie (Beck) Lawrence. He loved animals, kids, cars, and nature. He often took poinsettias and generous donations to area nursing homes. Tommy also acted as a caregiver to his mother and sister. He took care of a feral cat colony for many years. Tommy always gave out the best Halloween candy. He loved playing all kinds of poker games with family and friends, trips to the casino playing the sizzling 7’s. Tommy also loved his cats especially his feline companion Sammie of 20 years. He was employed at GM V-8 engine plant as a skilled trades electrician until he retired in 1998 with 44 years of service. He was respected for his workmanship and dedication. Tommy leaves behind his sister Linda Woods (Lawrence), several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and extended family Melvin, Jackie, and Jason Ballard. Tommy is preceded in death by his parents Thomas Sr. and Rosie (Beck) Lawrence, siblings: Gladys and (John Jr.) Combs, Duanita “Nita” and (Lester) Gray, Charles Lawrence, Ruth and (Al) Bednarski, Ruby and (Neil) Suffel, Dora and (Carl “CJ”) Roth and Mary “Virginia” Doss. God sent us an angle through Tommy’s life. We are saddened to lose the patriarch of our family who will be dearly missed. His final resting place will be in the Great Lakes National Cemetery.
