Lampson, Richard of Flushing, age 88, died Monday, February 12, 2018, at his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2018, at Rossell Funeral Home. Pastor Jerry Foster will officiate. Burial will follow at Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 1-3 and 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries or Riverdale Baptist Church.
Richard was born in Flint, Michigan on December 11, 1929, the son of Earl and Blanche (Booher) Lampson. He married Arlene Hoeksema on May 26, 1951. Richard was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for over 35 years. He was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church. Richard enjoyed camping and picnicking with his friends and the many evenings of playing Rook. He enjoyed working in his yard and will be remembered for his unique sense of humor. Richard’s greatest joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Arlene; children, Debra and husband Rick Coats, Duane and wife Pam Lampson; grandchildren, Jeremy Lampson, Jenni and husband Dale Bayliff; twin great-granddaughters, Ruby and Leta; and close relative, Mark Hoeksema. Richard was preceded in death by his parents; son, Doran Lampson; and sister, Virginia Stearns.
