Hoskey, Walter H. Sr. "Sonny" - of Mt. Morris, age 84, died Thursday, December 3, 2020, at McLaren Flint. Funeral services will be held at 2PM Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Landmark Baptist Church - 701 Field Rd., in Clio. Pastor John Flanders officiating. Cremation to follow. The family will receive visitors at the church on Tuesday from 11AM until the time of service at 2PM. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Sonny was born September 7, 1936, in Flint, Michigan to the late Walter and Dorothy (May) Hoskey. He graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1954. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Marine Reserves. Sonny married Sarah Shorts on February 25, 1961. He retired from AC Spark Plug with 30 years of service. He currently attended Landmark Baptist Church in Clio. Sonny was a longtime member of New Testament General Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher, and youth leader. He enjoyed the great outdoors, camping, travel and being around people. He especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Sonny was also known as a "hugger."
Surviving are: Wife, Sarah; 2 children: Kim Perry of Flint, and Walter (Deanna) Hoskey of AZ., 6 grandchildren: Magen (David) Elder, James Steller, Jr., Ashleigh Hartley, Whitney Hoskey, Nicole Edelen, and Tisha Hoskey; 3 great-grandchildren: Emily, Matthew, and Jacob "Little Buddy." 2 sisters: Doris Cook and Connie Entzminger; Sister in law, Sharon Shorts; Good friends: Pat and Nick and Sharon T: Sonny was also preceded in death by his brother, Tony and sister, Ruth Ann.Please sign our guestbook or share an online condolence with the family at www.oguinnfh.com
