BRASSEUR, Irene – of Burton, age 77, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Henry Ford Hospital – Detroit. A Funeral Service will be held 11 AM Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Calvert Park Community Church of God, 2341 N. Genesee Road, Burton, MI 48509; Pastor Alex Young officiating. Interment will be in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will welcome visitors from 11 AM until 7 PM on Monday, April 14, 2025, at Allen Funeral Home and at the church Tuesday from 10 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Genesee County, in Irene’s memory.
Irene was born in Flint on February 7, 1948, daughter of the late Kenneth and Neva (Heid) Shipley. She married Ronald Brasseur in October of 2014, he survives her. Irene worked as a hair dresser for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her yard tending to her flowers and her garden. Spending time in Florida was a favorite past time and she enjoyed time spent with friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and fur babies, Charlie and Maddie.
Irene is survived by her loving husband, Ronald; daughter, Celeste Armstrong; step-children, Ronald (Tonya) Brasseur II, Julie (Ben) Mitchell, Nate (Shannon) Dennis, Nikki (Drew) Hahn; grandchildren, Kayla Hall and Justin Armstrong; great-granddaughter, Hayden Taylor; brother, Larry (Margaret) Shipley; sister-in-law, Jean Shipley; and many other loving family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Kenneth Shipley, Jr.; sister, Shirley Byrne.
