AUSTIN, Donald D. – Of Flint, age 94, died Friday, November 13, 2015 at Heartland Healthcare Center-Briarwood.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Jack Dowden officiating.
Visitation 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Entombment at Crestwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Donald was born in Flint, Michigan on May 25, 1921 and was a resident of Flint all of his life.
On July 12, 1947 he married Dorothea Brown.
He proudly served with the United States Marine Corps during World War II in Samoa.
He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Donald was Past Master of Genesee Lodge #174, F.&A.M. and life member of Fellowship #490, also Past High Priest of the Royal Arch Masons. He was a member of Elf Khurafeh Shriner’s.
Mr. Austin was employed by Chevrolet Truck Plant for 34 years and was a member of UAW Local #598.
Surviving are two sons, Douglas and wife Leisa,
Richard and wife Debra;
8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; brother; niece and nephew.
