HAMPER, Richard “Dick” Walter – of Davison, MI, age 89, passed away on August 4, 2020. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial will be held at a later date at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Richard was born in Flint, MI on August 24, 1930, son of the late Bernard and Bernadette (Preville) Hamper. He married Charlene Yarbro on December 28, 1971. Richard served as a CPL in the Army during the Korean War. He spent the rest of his career in real estate and insurance. Richard always loved hunting, fishing and especially gardening. Sports were a big part of his life. He was an avid bowler in his younger days and enjoyed watching and listening to Lions and Tigers games. Later in life, Richard enjoyed going to the casino, playing the slot machines and his favorite, BINGO. He made many wonderful friends playing BINGO.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Charlene; children, Richard Hamper, Jr., Michele Stouffer and Stacey (Eddie) Rye; stepchildren, Charla (Nick) Matich, Robert Ray, Norma Balagna and Patricia Coleman; grandchildren, Allison, Alexander, Kris, Kellie, Toni, Andrew, Nicholas, Cyle, Thomas, Diane and Lisa; many great grandchildren; many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bernard Hamper, Jr.
