THOMPSON, George F. – Of Flint, age 87, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Visitation 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
George was born in Flint, Michigan on August 25, 1926, the son of the late Lorne and Allie (Hanes) Thompson.
He served his country in the U.S. Navy and Army during World War II.
He was a lifetime member of the Masons and retired from GM after 32 years of service.
He loved to fish, hunt, camping, horseshoes; riding his motorcycle; many outdoor activities and get togethers.
Surviving are son, Rod Thompson of Mt. Pleasant;
grandchildren;
great-grandchildren;
sister, Mary (Art) Alexander;
sisters-in-law, Donna of Sanford, Marvel of Ohio and Coralee of Petoskey;
brothers-in-law, Boyd (Gail) Southwell of Afton, MI and Nick Southwell of Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, on January 3, 2014; son, Dan; sister, Barbara and one brother, Howard.
