Robert L. “Bob” Stearns of Davison age 74 died Tuesday November 2, 2021 at Heartland Health Care-Briarwood. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon Monday November 8, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 404 N. Dayton St. Davison, MI 48423 with Fr. Carl Simon, Celebrant, with burial at New Calvary Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 2:00-6:00pm Saturday and Sunday at Hansen Funeral Home Downtown Davison with a parish scripture services held at 6:00pm Sunday evening. Mr. Stearns will lie at the church on Monday from 11:00 am until time of services.
Robert was born in Flint, Michigan on July 26, 1947 the son of the late Duane and Frances (Purcell) Stearns and resided in the Davison area since 1981. Answering the call of his country Bob served in the US Marines during the Vietnam War. He was joined in marriage to Joanne L. Mandrick on September 12, 1970 and she preceded him death on March 28, 2012. Bob was member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, and the Knight of Columbus Council #4090. Bob was the glue to the Stearns family he always remembered special dates including birthday and anniversaries, and planned many of the family events throughout the years. He had been employed by General Motors Fisher Body Division until his retirement.
He survived by son: Ryan Stearns (Tasheena Koon-Jones), grandson: Ryan Stearns Jr., brothers: Marvin and wife Joyce Stearns, and Garry Stearns. He also leaves a host of extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by granddaughter: LeAnn Nicole Stearns; brother and sister in law: Bud and Linda Stearns, sister, Fran Freeman, and half brother, James Stearns.
