Murdock, Mr. Oscar Jawaun, "Doc" Jr. - Age 58, of Flint, MI, passed away on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, at the Hurley Medical Center Hospital, Flint, MI, following a brave battle with cancer. He was surrounded by family and friends.
Mr. Oscar Jawaun Murdock, Jr. was born December 22, 1966, in Detroit, MI, to the late Oscar Lee Murdock, Sr. and Birtha M. Broach (nee Murdock). Oscar Murdock, Jr. attended Northwestern High School in Flint, MI, where he joined the wrestling team, excelled in sports, and won multiple medals. Oscar completed his high school education and entered the United States Army where he worked as an automotive mechanic, after which, in June 1986, he received an honorable discharge. Oscar Murdock followed up the military with college education at Coppin State University, in Baltimore, Maryland. He then worked at Ford Credit Company before deciding upon a Barbering career. His career as a Barber in the personal care industry lasted for twenty-three amazing years. Though Oscar closed his Barber shop in 2025, he went on to work part-time as a school bus driver for METS Transportation and Richfield Public Schools Academy, Flint, MI. Oscar continued unwavering to be a courageous man of faith and fortitude.
In June 2003, Oscar was baptised as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in association with the Kearsley Park Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. There he thrived as a full-time publisher of the Good News of God's Kingdom and as a Christian Elder. Oscar possessed a strong love for God and family.
In Oscar's extracurricular time, he enjoyed watching college basketball and NFL football games. Also, he was a top-notch Dominoes player. Although he liked many team sports, Oscar was primarily a Michigan State University "Spartie" and a Detroit Lions fan. Oscar enjoyed camping, concerts, dining out with family and friends, traveling with his wife and taking cruises. He was known as someone who would always speak up for those in need. He used his voice to do good for others rather than to speak harm. All who knew Oscar knew him to be a man of strong conviction, ever serious about his Christian faith, love, and hope.

Murdock, Jr. leaves to cherish his memory, beloved wife, Mrs. Jessie Murdock; Sons, Jawaun and Jaquaze Murdock; Daughter, Jacqueline Morris; Parents, JP "Pops" and Birtha Broach (nee Murdock); Siblings, Robin Renae (Eric) Redmon, Malicia Yvette Montgomery, and special brother, Nell (Tanisha) Taylor; Grandsons, TyMari Murdock, Anthony "AJ" Murdock; Jamaree Morris, and Andrell Turner, Jr; Granddaughters, Naudiya, Amora, and Miyauna Murdock; Jasmine and Jessica Truly; and Jaida and Andrea Turner; Great Grandson, Carter Truly; Great Granddaughter, Hazel Turner; Nieces, Erica (Aaron) Miller and Brittney Murdock;
Nephews, Corey Nelson, Jr. and Rakeem (Stevenie) Redmon; Great nephews, Jaylon, Jamir, and Jordan Miller; Josiah and Joshua Murdock; and Rakeem "RJ" Redmon, Jr; special aunt, Pearl Maynard; special family friend, Antonio Eberhardt-Taylor; and special son, Joseph Bielin; and a host of other relatives and special friends, including Edison (Stephanie) Henry, Floyd (Audra) Bell, Norman (Lorene) Childress, Willie (Belinda) Shaddawvine, Patty "Auntie" Hogg; Vivian Bennett; Carol D. Love, Joseph Hartfield, III and the children and spouse of the late Alphonso Hatter, Sr., Mrs. Evelyn Hatter and Avante, Alphonso, Jr. and Sterling Hatter.
Mr. Murdock was preceded in death by his son, Delmirrio Raquan Murdock; father, Oscar Lee Murdock, Sr; sister, Tamika Murdock; grandmother, Roberta Taylor; and cousin, Melony Miles.
A memorial service for Mr. Murdock will take place on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at the Dye Road Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, located at 1187 S. Dye Rd., Flint, MI, after which the family will gather for association with friends and family. Cremation has taken place per Mr. Murdock's request.
