Kraszewski, Victor Michael, age 104, Flushing’s oldest resident, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021, at Hyde Park Assisted Living. Victor was born in Flint, Michigan on May 19, 1916, one of nine children of Victor and Alexandra (Kraszewska) Kraszewski. Victor proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as a Master Sergeant. While stationed on the 482nd Bomb Group in Alconberry, England, he met and fell in love with Olive Joan Lehmann. They were married in London on September 13, 1944. They enjoyed 72 happy and fruitful years of marriage. Olive preceded him in death on February 26, 2017. Victor was employed at Buick City for 30 years, then worked at Krause Racing Off-Road Motocycles, before retirement. He was a member of the PLAV, Post #8 where he served as Commander for multiple terms.

Vic or Pops, as he was most often called, was an endless dreamer, an innovator, a designer, a problem-solver, a prolific builder, an eternal student, and a staunch advocate of education. Pops was called the “Parts Counter Philosopher” by the young racers and dirt bikers that came into the racing shop to buy parts for their motorcycles. Many came into the store for just his sermons alone. He inspired many. All knew he cared. Pops lived every moment of his life as God intended a man to do. It’s that simple. He loved traveling everywhere with Olive. Woodworking in his shop consumed a lot of his free time. His grandchildren were his joy and pride.

Victor is survived by his sons, Victor A. and wife, Deborah Krause of Geneva, IL, Michael and wife Dorothy Krause of West Bloomfield; grandchildren, Victor L. Krause, Alexander James Krause and fiancee, Cassy Burke, Anna Louise Krause and fiance, Andrew Janusz; sister-in-law, Alice Peters of England; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, both here and in Poland. He was also preceded in death by all of his eight siblings.
