Maxine McNulty Forsgren, of Flushing, Michigan, age 86, passed away Monday, June 5, 2023, at her home and surrounded by family. Family will have a private celebration of life with burial at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Maxine was born in Flint, Michigan on February 24, 1937, to Frances and Bernice Lee. Maxine married her childhood sweetheart, Donald McNulty on July 31, 1954, at Sacred Heart Church in Flint, Mi. They created and raised a beautiful, close-knit family. They had been married for 39 years when Donald suddenly preceded her in death in February of 1993. She later married Milton Forsgren in August of 2012. He proceeded her in death in July of 2020.
Maxine worked at Hamady Brothers grocery store for many years. After retiring from Hamady, she worked doing home health care for a few years. Maxine and Don were founding members of the Flushing Moose Lodge. She was an avid card player, golfer, and pool player. Maxine loved to fish and go to the casino. She was on many pool and golf leagues and always took home the trophy.
Maxine was competitive and always up for a game of cards. Her grandchildren have fond memories of her teaching them to play cards with her and them always trying to win a game.
She loved all her family dearly and was sure to keep them all in line if need be. Mom was the rock of our family. She always looked forward to seeing her grandchildren and getting together with family and friends. Mom made friends wherever she went. She has left behind a legacy of beautiful memories for our family and cherished friendships for whoever crossed her path. She is an amazing example of strength and love for our family and friends. Maxine was an amazing mother and grandmother and will be missed dearly.
Maxine is survived by her children, Pamela McNulty, Mike McNulty, Kim McNulty, Carrie (Jeff) Hahn, and Julie (Larry Carrier) McNulty; 11 grandchildren, Joseph (Julie) Hawkins, Brandi Hawkins, Shannon Parish, Stephanie (Ted) Yearling, Michael (Andrea) McNulty, Sarah (Josh) Hicks, Amy (Brian) Davis, Jeffrey (Brandi) Hahn, Kyle Hahn, Ryan Garcia, Donielle Garcia; 24 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Earl (Nancy) Lee; lifelong friend, Wilma Filmore; adoptive daughters, Jeannie Toney, Teresa Alexander; beloved cat, Toby; and many nieces and nephews and special friends whom she considered family. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald McNulty; husband, Milton Forsgren; daughter-in-law, Susan McNulty; sister, Shirley Kinzie; and brother, Larry Lee.
