RICE, PATRICIA JOANNE- Of Flint, age 84, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Sherman Glen Manor in National City, Michigan.
Funeral service will be at 11am on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Visitation will be held from 2-4pm and 6-8pm on Friday, January 2, 2026 at the funeral home and 10am Saturday until the time of service.
Burial will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Patricia was born in Tonawanda, New York on February 1, 1941 she was raised in Flint, Michigan by her parents Beatrice (Olds) Klatt and Lloyd Klatt.
She married Randolph R. Rice on September 15, 1962 in Flint. She proudly supported him throughout his distinguished 32-year service as a SGM in the Army Reserve.
Patricia graduated from Flint Central High School, the class of 1959.
She was a skilled seamstress and greatly enjoyed attending craft shows with family and friends.
Patricia and Randy made their home in Flint Township, Michigan for 50 years, where they lovingly raised their son and daughter.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished her family deeply. She also was a lifelong member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Flint, where she contributed to the community by playing bells and singing in the choir for many years.
Patricia and Randy remained loyal supporters of Flint hockey teams, holding season tickets for over thirty years. For 25 years, Patricia maintained strong ties with her neighbors and friends as the local Avon Lady.
In 2018 Patricia moved to Lincoln, Michigan to be closer to her son and his family. There she formed new friendships and found peace in the area’s beauty. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, socializing with friends, walking her dog Trixie and watching the deer.
She is survived by her son Scott (Kathy) Rice of Greenbush, Michigan, her daughter Kimberly (Darrin) Halstead of Marion Michigan, grandchildren Elizabeth (Andy) Howland of Charlotte, Michigan, Melissa (Drew) Turner of Fowlerville, Michigan, Andrew (Rebecka) Rice of Pewamo, Michigan, Jeremy (Jen) Gatz of Dawsonville, Georgia, Joseph Halstead of Marion, Michigan, Shauna (Sean Connor) Halstead of Napoleon, Michigan; great grandchildren P.J, Cameron, Logan, Teagan, Alaina, Jackson, Henry, Kenzley, Lucas, Kiara, Roman, Mya, Hudson, Weston, Lula, Rilynn, Lily, Sophia; nieces Laura Shuman and Kathy Goforth-Alaman
She was preceded in death by her husband Randolph Rice, sister Barbara Goforth, her parents, Beatrice and Lloyd Klatt, and her great nephew Joseph Kliewer.
