BAIR, Donald Leroy – of Birch Run, age 88, died Saturday, March 17, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Thursday, March 22, 2018 at O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. Pastor Billie Lou Gillespie officiating. Burial in Birch Run Township Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8PM and on Thursday from 10AM until time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Don was born October 13, 1929 in Flint, Michigan to the late Lloyd and Frances (Beckwith) Bair. He grew up in Flint and graduated from Beecher High School with the class of 1947. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1954. On May 28, 1955 he married Irene Layton. Prior to his retirement, Don worked for McDonald Dairy and then went to work at AC Spark Plug for 28 years. He enjoyed tractors, gardening, fishing, golf, and coin collecting. In his younger days, he enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting, and motorcycle riding – especially his old Indian motorcycles. Don was also a woodworker and liked to build and fly his remote-controlled airplanes.
Surviving are: Wife of 62 years, Irene Bair; Children: Donald Bair, Jan (Mat) Martinus, and Jill (Kelly) Boggs; Grandchildren: Bryon Bair, Kelsey Bair, April (Aaron) Carroll, Robert (Becky) Richmond, Layna Boggs, Kacie Boggs, and Tarra Boggs; Great Grandchildren: Abby Carroll, Levi Carroll, Allison Richmond, and Hannah Richmond; Sisters: Judy (Richard) France, and Sally (Ron) Tomkinson; Several nieces and nephews.
