BOWRON, Gertrude L. – Of Grand Blanc, age 95, died Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Genesys Regional Medical Center.
Visitation 4 p.m. Monday, December 29, 2014 until the time of the memorial service at 6 p.m. at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Per Gertrude’s request cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
Gertrude was born in Elkton, Michigan on August 17, 1919, the daughter of Blake and Agnes Snider.
She was married to Dale Bowron for 56 years. On their 50th wedding anniversary they renewed their vows before their son, Judge William Bowron and family.
She was an active member of Fleming Road Church.
She graduated in 1940 from Central State Teachers College, which is now CMU, receiving a Teaching Degree.
Mrs. Bowron taught in a one room school in Bad Axe and also substitute taught in the Flint School District.
She was a good friend, loving wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are children, William and wife Debra of Traverse City,
Sandra and husband Philip Dean of Swartz Creek,
Scott and wife Melissa Bowron of Grand Rapids;
five grandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren;
one sister, Greta Fern Sowden of Grand Blanc;
many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale; brother, Melvin Snider and great-grandson, Michael.
