DUFRESNE, Duane F. – of Davison, MI, age 87, passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, Michigan 48423; Rev. Gary Cousins officiating. Interment will take place following the service in Great Lakes National Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 3 – 6 PM on Monday, July 20, 2026 and again on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10 AM at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Wounded Warrior Project in honor of Duane.
Duane was born in Flint, Michigan, on January 24, 1939, the beloved son of the late Roy and Lula (Coles) DuFresne. On May 5, 1990, he married Barbara Jean Deneen, in Goodrich, Michigan, beginning a marriage filled with love, companionship, and countless adventures. Duane proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the early 1960s, with assignments in North Dakota and Greenland. Following his military service, he enjoyed a long and dedicated career with General Motors Buick, retiring after more than 30 years of faithful service. A true lover of the outdoors and the open road, Duane found great joy in camping and RV travel. As an original member of Smoke Rise Vacation Resort, he embraced a lifestyle of exploration, spending more than 23 years traveling and living in his RV. Whether discovering new places or simply enjoying the beauty of nature, he was happiest when on the move. Duane will be remembered for his easygoing spirit, warm smile, and fun-loving personality. Though he was a man of few words, his quiet kindness, steady presence, and gentle heart spoke volumes. He leaves behind cherished memories of a life well lived and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
Duane is survived by his wife, Barbara DuFresne; children: Duane (Cathy) DuFresne, Bradley DuFresne, David (Luann) Griffus, Dale (Karen) Griffus, Belinda (Michael) Pirtle and Wendy (Jon) Odykirk; son-in-law, John Richter; daughter-in-law, Cathy DuFresne; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Michael DuFresne; daughter, Donna Richter; brothers: Michael DuFresne, Phillip DuFresne, and Ernest DuFresne.
