MOODY, Lydia - Of Flint, Michigan, formerly of Flushing, age 89, died Sunday, June 2, 2019 at McLaren-Flint.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11am Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 310 N. Cherry Street, Flushing,
Father Jonathan Perrotta officiating.
Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St Robert Bellarmine Church or Catholic Outreach, 509 N. Grand Traverse, PO Box 815, Flint, MI
Visitation 2-8 Tuesday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Rosary will be prayed 7pm evening at the funeral home. Visitation 10am Wednesday at church until the time of the Mass.
Lydia was born in Flint, Michigan on November 19, 1929 and was the daughter of Louis and Jennie Stornello. She married Van Moody on September 16, 1950. Lydia retired from the Flint Board of Education in 1992 after working in Title I Reading for 20 years. Her Catholic faith and her family were an important part of her life. She was an active member of St Robert Bellarmine Church, serving for many years as Eucharistic Minister and Lector. Lydia was also a member of the Emmanuel Prayer Group and Eucharistic Perpetual Adoration and The Secular Order of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, serving as the contact person of an International Carmelite Internet Prayer Request Ministry. She had a great love for beautiful music, playing the organ and spiritual reading.
Surviving are her husband, Van;
son, Joseph F. Moody and his wife Tina;
five grandchildren, Nicole, Michael, John, Tricia, and Nikki;
five great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Bess (Barbara) Stornello;
and many nieces, nephews and very close special friends.
She was never a stranger to anyone.
Lydia was preceded in death by her son, John Emmanuel Moody, brothers, Dominic (Don) Stornello and his wife Wanitta, Joe Stornello and his wife Charlotte, Louis Stornello, and sister, Anna Stornello.
