Sammy Lynn Risher (Sam), age 67, lifelong resident of Flint, Michigan, died July 8 2026 at his residence in Flint Township. Sam was born October 29 1958 to David Rhett Risher and Eloise Lane Jones (Peppers). He is survived by his mother, Eloise Peppers of South Carolina, his three siblings, Rhetta Hunyady (Ron) of Lake Wylie, South Carolina; Tony Risher (Leslie) of North Port, Florida; and Tammy Mayville (Shawn) of Ft. Mill, South Carolina, aunts Peggy Fisher of Flint, and Lois Priest of Gastonia, North Carolina; nieces, Autumn Bilka, Teagen Risher and Mireya Risher; nephews, Tony Risher Jr, Blayne Risher, Conner Breedlove, and Brody Risher; and many cousins. He was predeceased by his father, David Rhett Risher, grandparents, Sam B. Jones and Annie Jones; and David Rhett Risher Sr. and Kate McLaurin Risher. Aunts and uncles, William Robert Jones, Dan and Emma Jones, Jeral W. Fisher, Charles and Overeen Risher; and Nephew Travis Koin.
Sam was the third of four children. He and his brother, Tony, were inseparable growing up sharing a love of cars and brotherly mischief! His older sister, Rhetta, was like a second mom to Sam and his siblings, sharing the title of who owned the most shoes. His younger sister, Tammy, shared his sense of humor that only they appreciated. Sam adored his mother, always showering her with sweet gifts and generous hugs and kisses. It was clear to the rest of us that Sam was her favorite child. We would often say that Sam enjoyed his solitude, but he also loved being with his family. Professionally, Sam worked in several local automotive supplier operations, recently retiring as a fork lift operator.
The family will honor Sam’s wishes to hold a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers/donations, the family encourages those who wish to do so to donate to your favorite charity, and hug your loved ones often. You never know when they may be called from this Earth to their heavenly home. Thank you for your friendship, your smiles, your tears, and your comfort extended to our family.
