Marilyn Jean Lewinski (née Walter), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, in Grand Blanc, Michigan. She was 89 years old.
Marilyn was born on December 12, 1937, in Bascom, Ohio and grew up on the family farm with her sister Nancy. She pursued a career in nursing, became a Registered Nurse and met Bill Lewinski while working at Flower Hospital in Toledo. The two married in June of 1958 and moved to North Dakota so Bill could attend Valley City Teachers College. After two years, they made their way to Michigan with their young family and settled in Grand Blanc.
Marilyn had many talents and hobbies. She enjoyed music, played the piano, and accompanied the Our Risen Lord Church Choir for many years. She was a charter member of her long-running book club. She loved to be in the kitchen - jam, banana bread, and sour cream softies were her specialties!
Marilyn was preceded in death by parents Carlysle and Geraldine Walter, husband Bill Lewinski, daughter-in-law Kristen Lewinski. She is survived by sister Nancy Steinmetz, children Tammy Erickson (Dan), Tom Lewinski (Terry), Todd Lewinski (Lissa), Craig Murdock (Phyllis), grandchildren Katie, Emily, Kelsey, Caleb, Sam, Grace and Charlie, great-grandson Walter.
Marilyn will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. A funeral service will be held on March 14, 2026 at Our Risen Lord Lutheran Church at 11:00 a.m. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00. Lunch will be served following the service.
