GONZALEZ JR., Pedro – of Davison, age 82, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at Hurley Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM on Friday, August 7, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison, MI 48423; Father Denis Spitzley celebrant. Interment will immediately follow in Flint Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 11 AM – 7 PM Wednesday, August 5, 2026, and 11 AM – 7 PM on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423 and 12-1 PM Friday, August 7, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed at 6 PM on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Allen Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, ASPCA or a charity of your choice, in Pedro’s memory.
Pedro was born in Cananea, Sonora, Mexico on June 18, 1944, the son of the late Pedro and Adelaida (Pulido) Gonzalez. He married the love of his life, Alice L. Perez, on October 26, 1963, at the original site of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church on Carpenter Road in Flint, Michigan. Together they shared more than 60 years of marriage before she preceded him in death on June 7, 2024. Pedro was the last surviving sibling of a family of ten children. He graduated from Flint Northern High School in 1963 and subsequently began his career at Fisher Body #1, working on the line and later in skilled trades as a journeyman electrician. After the plant closed in December 1987, he was transferred to the GM SPO Plant in Swartz Creek, Michigan, where he worked until his retirement after 35 years in 1998. A man of deep faith, Pedro was a devoted member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church for many years before later attending St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. His faith was the foundation of his life, and he lived each day guided by his love for God and his family. Pedro found great joy in the outdoors, spending time hunting, fishing, and tending to his garden. Above all else, he cherished his family. He was the heart of every gathering, always welcoming others with a warm smile and an even warmer hug. Whether you were family, a friend, a child, or even a stranger, Pedro had a remarkable way of making everyone feel loved and valued. His kindness extended to animals as well, reflecting the gentle spirit that defined his life. Cooking was one of Pedro's greatest expressions of love. He took great pride in preparing traditional Mexican dishes and made it his mission to ensure everyone around him was well fed, whether at family cookouts, on fishing trips, or at work. Generous with both his time and whatever he had to offer, he found happiness in caring for others. Pedro loved celebrating his heritage and especially enjoyed attending Mexican dances, where his joyful spirit and welcoming personality made him everyone’s favorite dance partner. He was deeply loved by all who knew him, and his legacy of faith, generosity, unwavering devotion to family, and genuine love for others will continue to live on in the hearts of those blessed to know him.
Pedro is survived by his loving children, Rebecca (Joseph) Tibbetts, Laura (Thomas) Krellwitz and Ricardo (Holly) Gonzalez; 8 grandchildren: Randi Dickerson, Cody Dickerson, Christina Tibbetts, Joseph (Emily) Richards, Andrea (Alex) Lincoln, Madeline Krellwitz, Krystal Gonzalez and Ricardo Gonzalez Jr.; 2 great-grandsons: Jackson and Grant Lincoln; his loving furry companion, Rosie; and many other loving family members and dear friends.
