Hanel, Douglas Gray - of Davison, age 65, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2026 while vacationing in Niagara Falls, Canada to celebrate his anniversary.
Funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint.
Burial in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation 5-8pm Tuesday and 11am Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Doug was born on September 12, 1960 in Flint, MI to Robert and Marian (Gray) Hanel. Doug graduated from Atherton High school in 1978. His career at Scrub A Dub car wash spanned several decades. He enjoyed cars and anything else with a motor and spending time with family and friends. Going up north to get lost in the woods in their side-by-side was his and Wendy's happy place.
He is survived by his wife, Wendy (Thronson) Hanel, children Hillary (George) Rose and Douglas (Morgan) Hanel, the mother of his children, Barbara Hanel, grandchildren Audrey and Madeline Rose, siblings Robert J. Hanel and Carol (Randy) Haney, and stepchildren Shawna (Joe) Bennett, Raymond Hurles, and Nicholas Benore.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marian Hanel.
