James “Jim” Carl Wartella of Davison age 92 died Tuesday January 13, 2026 at Lapeer County Medical Care Facility surrounded by his family. Honoring his wishes cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday January 21, 2026 from 12:00-2:00pm at Hansen Funeral Home Downtown Davison, with luncheon to follow at Davison IOOF Hall 2134 N. Irish Rd. Davison. A private inurnment will be at Smith-Hill Cemetery Otisville, MI. Those desiring may make contributions in Jim’s memory to the Davison IOOF Lodge.
Jim was born in Flint, Michigan on March 9, 1933 the son of the late Max and Celia (Billman) Wartella and resided in the Davison area most of his life. He was joined marriage to Norma Jean Gilson on December 8, 1951 and she preceded him in death on April 5, 2024. Jim enjoyed being outside taking care of his yard, and being with family and friends. He was a member of the Davison IOOF. Jim was employed by Ferguson Block Company driving the cement truck until his retirement.
Surviving are his children: Gary and wife Deborah Wartella, Greg Wartella, Paula Norton; grandchildren: Elizabeth and husband Dylan, Dakotah, Cheyenne, and James, and 2 great grandchildren, and host of extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by daughter: Jeana Marie Wartella-Brokaw November 2019. Please share your condolences at www.HansenFuneralHome.net
