BRITTON, Donald Lee. – of Burt, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family after a brief battle with stomach cancer. He was 75 years of age.
Donald was born on September 16, 1939 in Flint, Michigan. He was adopted as a newborn by the late Raymond and Adelia (Smith) Britton. They gave him a wonderful life and Donald was completely devoted to them. Donald married Fern. They enjoyed 30 years together. He drove truck for 30 years with Roadway Express before retiring in 1995. Donald had a long and enjoyable retirement. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Taymouth. Donald enjoyed playing cards, traveling and fishing. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are: Wife, Fern Britton of Burt; Children: Tammy (Gary) Niarhos of Wilson, Kimberlee Britton (Paul Buchtel) of Burt, Scott Britton of Flint, Jeffrey Britton of Flushing, Angela (Spencer) Nebel of Newport, Oregon; Their mother, Rebekah Britton; Grandchildren: Jerry (Tricia) Stinnett, Heather Niarhos, Donald (Laura) Grabow, William Niarhos, Derek Olson, Tasha and Jackson Britton; 8 great-grandchildren; Step-children: Karen Nickel, Tom Tindell and Lori (Rick) Wolfe; 3 step-grandchildren: Danielle, Thomas and Amber. Donald was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Kathie Lynn Britton in 1969.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Birch Run. Rev. Ted McCulloch officiating. Burial in Cook Cemetery. Family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Friday from 2-9PM and on Saturday from 12PM until the time of service at 2PM. Those desiring to make contributions in honor of Donald are asked to consider Taymouth Township Historical Society or First Presbyterian Church of Taymouth–Emergency Fund.
