West, Robert Noel, of Flint, Michigan. Robert Noel West was given the gift of life on December 3, 1918 and was called home to Our Father at the age of 99, on March 10, 2018. Funeral services will be 11 am, Friday, March 16, 2018 at Mayfair Bible Church, 5339 W. Pierson Rd., Flushing. Pastor Dean Stewart and Pastor Michael Breznau will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Rossell Funeral Home and 10 am until the time of the service at the Church. If desired, memorial contributions can be made to Carriage Town Ministries or Flushing Christion Outreach Center.
Bob lived a full and admirable life in the Flint and Flushing area. After graduating from Swartz Creek High School, he attended Michigan Tech. Two years later, Bob left to serve in the Army, earning the rank of Captain with the 21st. Engineer Regiment. The experience he gained building airfields and general construction in North Africa and Italy proved to the work he would choose to follow the remainder of his professional life.
Upon retiring from the Army, Bob started the R.N. West Construction Co., General Contractors. Over the next 42 years, his company helped to change the skyline of downtown Flint by building the YWCA, the Flint Michigan State Office Building and the Salvation Army Citadel. His firm was also responsible for many other government buildings, schools, churches, retail centers and offices across the east side of the state.
On June 27, 1942, Bob married his childhood sweetheart, Charlotte Virginia Rutz of Albion, MI. Together they were active members of the Mayfair Bible Church; also, Bob was privileged to have served as a member of the Board of Directors for Pioneer State Mutual Insurance Company for 24 years. Just three months short of their 70th wedding anniversary, God called Charlotte home. Their life together was a celebration in Christ, and they were blessed to raise two sons and a daughter.
Bob is survived by a loving family; Children, Douglas and Bonnie West, Gail and Michael Dewey, and Daniel and Shannon West; grandchildren, Timothy and Chris West, Heather West, Holly and Bret Faler, Ryan Schauland, Tiffany and Ryan Erickson, Rachel West, Albert and Taylor West; great-grandchildren, Chelsea West, Robbie West, Cooper Faler, Ella, Nolan and Elin Erickson, and Daxen West, along with many nieces and nephews.
