Bettie Jane Peters (Bragg), 85, formerly of Burton, MI, passed away on September 12, 2025.
Funeral service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. Pastor Jeff Glover officiating.
Visitation will be from 11am Saturday till the time of service at the funeral home.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Betty was born in Claypool, West Virgina to parents William Hazzard Bragg & Nelly Grey Keylor.
She married the love of her life Jimmie Crawley in 1956 and moved to Michigan. She had two wonderful sons Jimmie Jr. & David. After the passing of her husband Jimmie in 1976, she was married to James Peters and welcomed his son Daniel into their family in 1980.
Betty was employed by General Motors and retired from a managerial position at the Buick assembly plant in Flint, MI. Betty was a woman of unwavering faith, whose love for the lord shown through in every aspect of her life. Betty was a devoted member of Harmony Baptist Church, teaching children the song “Running Over” in Sunday school & singing in the choir, knowing almost every hymn by heart. Betty was passionate about sharing her love of the lord with others and would take her granddaughters to church every Sunday.
In addition to loving all people, Betty especially loved her family. She had a gift for making everyone feel special and would send everyone a birthday card every year with $3 included.
Those who knew Betty will remember her infectious smile and her deep-rooted faith in Jesus as well as her unwavering commitment to spreading his love & kindness to everyone she encountered. She could often be found preaching to people in the grocery aisles. She had a rare gift of leaving a lasting impact on all those who crossed her path.
She is survived by her sons, Jimmie Crawley Jr. & Daniel (Debbie) Peters;
Siblings Jackie Bragg, Bonnie Richmond, Rosetta McGuire; Grandchildren Felicia Jernigan, Vanessa (Nathan) Cull, Bethany Crawley, Christina (Donald) Helka, Trey (Xitali) Peters, Victoria (John) Chandler, as well as 11 Great Grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in Death by her Husband, James Peters. Her son, David Crawley, Her niece, Dreama Richmond, Her nephew, Donel Bragg Jr. & her best friend Jean Rounds.
