MARSHALL, Brand A. – of Clio, age 71, died unexpectedly on Monday, June 21, 2021, at McLaren Flint. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Brand’s Life will be held 11AM Saturday, July 10, 2021, at Messiah Lutheran Church, 520 Butler St., in Clio. Pastor Erik Cloeter officiating. The family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 9AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation or the charity of one’s choice.
Brand was born July 18, 1949, in Flint, Michigan to the late Alvin and Helen (Bray) Marshall. He graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1967 and later graduated as a journeyman carpenter from Mott Community College. Brand married Linda Newton on July 26, 1969, in Chesaning, Michigan. He started his career at Consumers Energy as a lineman, worked his way up to crew leader and after 34 years of service retired in 2004. Brand was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Clio. He was a carpenter by trade, and enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and took pride in his vehicles. Brand also enjoyed deer hunting, was an avid bow hunter, and enjoyed walks in the woods enjoying the beauty of nature.
Surviving are: Loving wife, Linda Marshall; Sister, Debra (David) Peterson; Brother in law: Gary (Denise) Newton; Nieces: Cheryl (Brandon) Starnes, Lisa Jane (Chad) Oczus, Heather Newton, and Monica Newton; Great nieces and nephews: Shelby Starnes, Krystal Barton, and Bradley Wadeen, Gavin Oczus, and Avery Oczus; Special friend, John Adado.
