HODSON, MARY - Of Flushing, age 82, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at Hyde Park Assisted Living.
Memorial service will be held at 11am on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Dr. Max B. Hayden officiating.
Visitation will be held at 10am Saturday until the time of service. At the funeral home.
Contributions may be made to Abraham Ranch in Clarkston, Michigan.
Mary Kathleen Phillips was born on August 26, 1943, in Montana, the daughter of the late Dr. Robert W. and Kathleen (Natalie) Phillips.
She graduated from Flint Central High School.
Mary met her husband Charles Hodson in chemistry class at Flint Central, and they married on March 27th, 1965. They raised 4 boys and loved traveling with their boat and motor home all over the USA.
Mary loved horses and was a camp counselor at Chippawa Ranch for many years. In addition to horses Mary also loved to fly fish and was an excellent shuffle boarder. She was a member of the Zephyrhills Shuffleboard Club and won the title of amateur Florida State Champion for seniors. She loved walking in the woods with her dog Katie who was her faithful hiking companion.
Remembering her always will be her beloved sons, Charles Jr. (Christine). James (Becky), John (Trish), and Jeff, 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, sisters, Jessica (Roger) Van Noord, and Julia (Dan)Gidcumb; her brother Tim, and sister-in-law, Janet Carnell.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Chuck, her sister Ann, brothers Terry and Sam, sister-in-law Bonnie and her eldest brother John who passed at birth.
She has now gone to be with the Lord but will live on in our hearts and memories.
