Jean Eleanor Belill “Gigi”. - Passed away Thursday, April 23, 2020 at WellBridge of Fenton.

Jean was born on October 4, 1921 in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Matt and Evelyn Donovan. She grew up in the Clio area as part of a large family, the third oldest of nine children. Jean attended Clio High School, and graduated with highest honors in 1939 as the class valedictorian. She was also the class Homecoming Queen during that school year.

Jean married the love of her life, Laverne Belill, on St. Patrick’s Day, 1941. She worked at Claude Darby Real Estate and also GM Parts Division for several years afterwards, but eventually became a full time homemaker while raising her own family of five children. She was married to Laverne for over fifty years, until his passing in February of 1992.

Gigi enjoyed traveling and also vacationing at the family cottage in Oscoda, Michigan. She had fun fishing and boating with Vern and her kids and grandchildren. Other vacation travel included trips to Hawaii, California, Australia, Yellowstone,Yosemite, New Orleans, and Florida, as well as many others.

Hobbies included reading, bowling, card playing, movies, current events, and sports. She was a long-time Tigers fan, and loved watching her favorite college teams (UM, MSU, and Notre Dame) play football and basketball. She also loved watching the Olympics, especially figure skating. She kept up with family activities on Facebook, and would give anybody a run for their money at “Words With Friends”. She had great fun for several years as a member of the Clio chapter of the Red Hat Society.

Gigi was a long time member of Ss. Charles and Helen Catholic Church, and enjoyed celebrating her 50th wedding anniversary there at the parish center. She made many friends and always cherished her time praying and studying the Bible as a member of her parish prayer group.
One year found her winning the $7,500 raffle at the Ss. Charles September Festival. She used most of the lucky winnings to make improvements to her then 60 year old home in Clio.

Gigi leaves behind sister, Lucille Mounce of Unionville, Ontario; Surviving children: Judy (Michael) Pearson, Linda Ausiello, Michael Belill, Loralee (Ronald) Ayotte, and Matt (Mary); Fourteen grandchildren: Keri, Joe, Matt, Dee Ann, John, Haley, Annie, Nick, Nathan, Julie, Angie, Josh, Vince, and Valerie, as well as thirty three great grandchildren.
