JOHNSTON, Maurice Emerson - Age 92, of Fenton, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, November 6, 2025 at Sharp Funeral Homes, Fenton Chapel, 1000 Silver Lake Road, Fenton (The service will be live streamed and can be viewed via Maurice's obituary page at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com). Visitation will be held at the funeral home 4-8 PM Wednesday; and 10 AM until the time of the service Thursday. Burial in Crestwood Memorial Cemetery, Grand Blanc immediately following the service. Maurice was born September 9, 1933 in Flint, the son of Emerson and Marie (Bricker) Johnston. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. He married Joan Vivian McAfee July 2, 1955. He had resided in Fenton since 1966 coming from Burton. Maurice retired from GM Plant #6 as a Crane Operator after 34 years of service. He was a member of the U.A.W. He enjoyed woodworking, riding motorcycles, boating, car racing, working on cars and doing repairs around the house.
Surviving are: his wife of 70 years, Joan; sons, Carl (Donna) Johnston of Marlboro, MA, formerly of Fenton and Phillip (Chona) Johnston of Grand Blanc; grandchildren, Daniel Johnston of Grand Blanc, Steven Johnston of Davison, Ashley Johnston of Westland, Dylan Johnston of Flint, Charlene Asis of Grand Blanc and Amari Johnston of Grand Blanc; great grandchildren, Vincent, Nova and River; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emerson and Marie Johnston; sisters, Kate, Florence and Shirley. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com. |
