WHITLOCK, Joan D. – of Clio, age 91, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Maple Woods Manor. Honoring her wishes, cremation has taken place and no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the local food banks or your favorite charity.
Joan was born on February 9, 1930 on the family farm in Clio, Michigan. She was the 7th of 8 daughters born to the late John and Anna James (Jamiol). Joan enjoyed working at Meijer for many years before retiring. She enjoyed yard work, hanging her clothes on the line outside, cooking big meals for Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve, and of course she loved her trips to the casino and Sunday road trips with her husband, Howard Sr.
Left to cherish her memory are 5 children: Howard Jr. (Dorothy) of Clio, Richard of Clio, Rebecca (Anthony) Willey of Millington, Debora McGillivray of Indiana, and Gail Waller of Colorado; 7 Grandchildren: Benjamin (Svenja) McGillivray, Stacie (Tom) Kabel, Mitch (Chastity) McGillivray, Anthony (Casey) Willey, Stephanie (Michael) Edwards, Angela (Brian) Smithwick, Kaleigh; 15 Great-Grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Howard Sr.; 7 sisters: Vera, Stella, Emily, Julia, Virgie, Betty and Gen and spouses. The ‘James girls’ are back together again.
