Mrs. Roberta Edinburgh Washington Kennedy passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013 at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. Cornelius Edgar Edinburgh Sr. and Mrs. Beulah Carter Labyzon Edinburgh, her husband Meyer Kennedy, and three sons Irving Washington Jr., George Washington, and Kevin Washington.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her sister Mrs. Antoinette Edinburgh Williams, her son Frederick Washington (Linda), her brother Samuel Edinburgh, her sister Alice E. Bellaire, 14 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Roberta was a New Orleans native and a graduate of McDonough 35 High School. She was a dedicated member of Williams Ross United Methodist Church for over 80 years and a proud member of her alumni association the“39ers”. She was employed at Edinburgh Williams Beauty Salon as a beautician for over 35 years and continued working late into her eighties as a receptionist.

Thanks to her devoted nieces Sedia E. Bazile, Sonia E. St. Cyr, great niece Shawn Bazile, granddaughter Kimberly Washington, great granddaughter Miya Scaggs, Deborah Tanner, and Ricky Scaggs for their constant love, prayers, and support. Special thanks to Leanne Scaggs her adopted granddaughter for her unwavering care, commitment, and loyalty during her extended illness. She will be missed by countless family, friends, colleagues, and many others whose lives she has positively impacted.

Relatives and friends of the family also Pastors, Officers and members of Williams Ross United Methodist Church, the 39ers Alumni Associations are invited to attend the funeral services at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 27, 2013 at Williams Ross UMC, 7510 Pearl St. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM.
