Robert Danielsen, 77, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away peacefully at home with his wife by his side on Sunday, January 9, 2011. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 14, 2011 at 2:30 PM at the Runge Mortuary with visitation one hour prior to services at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family on behalf of the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital. Online condolences may be made at www.rungemortuary.com.
Robert was born November 19, 1933 in Davenport, IA, the son of Ernest and Irene (Wiese) Danielsen. He served in the Army from 1953 to 1956 with 18 months duty in Germany. He married Marjorie Timm in 1958 in Davenport. He served a 4 year tool and die apprenticeship at Swan Engineering in Bettendorf and later worked as a toolmaker at Rock Island Arsenal and also Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Mt. Joy.
He enjoyed many years in archery and was a founding member of the Davenport Archery Club in Davenport. He worked his way up to the rank of professional archer status. In 1983, Robert and Marjorie moved to Phoenix, AZ. While there, he pursued golf and was able to try out for the Pro-Am tournament at Moon Valley Country Club. He was also involved with gun safety and personal protection classes at the Ben Avery Shooting Facility as well as being a line safety officer on the firing line. He is a 50 year member of Davenport Lodge #37, formerly Philbrook Lodge # 659. He served in Consistory 6 years, becoming Worshipful Master in 1979.
He leaves behind his wife, Marjorie; son, Robert (Pam) Danielsen and daughter, Susan (Ken) Quinn, both of Davenport; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
