ACHTEN, Richard L. – of Burton, MI, age 67, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018. A Funeral Service will be held 1 PM Friday, November 9, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423; The Very Reverend Dr. Jay J. Gantz officiating. Interment, with Military Honors, immediately following the service in Meadowview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors 12-8 PM Thursday, November 8, 2018 and 12-1 PM Friday, November 9, 2018 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church, in Richard’s memory.

Richard was born in Goodrich, MI on March 8, 1951, son of the late Harry Achten and Elizabeth (Stevens) Stone. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Richard retired from General Motors after 31 years of service. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Richard was an avid bowler and music aficionado.

Richard is survived by 2 children, Anthony (Jen) Achten and Shelley (Scott) Gibson; 6 grandchildren, Taylor Achten, Austin Gibson, Barbara Jean Gibson, Carter Gibson, Emmalee Achten and Ryker Achten; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Laurence Achten.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Richard’s sister-in-law, Ruthmary Achten and his niece, Andrea Achten for their love and support.
