TAYLOR, Frederick – of Birch Run, formerly of Bridgeport, age 72, went peacefully to Heaven on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at Birch Run Fields Assisted Living. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be held in the summer. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make memorial contributions to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Toys for Tots.
Fred was born on September 19, 1953, in Columbus, Ohio, to the late Henry and Barbara (Brown) Taylor. He graduated from Bexley High School in Columbus and earned his bachelor’s degree in early childhood development from Hillsdale College in 1982. Fred was a substitute teacher in Flint for a short time before he found his life’s calling at Schrieber’s Food placing cheese in a box. He was a faithful member of Frankenmuth Bible Church where he volunteered as an usher and participated in the Men’s Bible Study. On October 24, 2021, Fred was proudly baptized backwards – and he took it so seriously that he made sure half his towel got saved too. Fred avidly watched wrestling, and over time began to look less like himself and more like Hulk Hogan. He was the life of the party, Hawaiian shirt and all, and was living proof that “wake and bake” isn’t just a saying, but a lifestyle. Above all, Fred adored his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandson. Crazy Grandpa will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Fred is forever remembered by: Daughters: Holly (Ray) Fowler, Samantha (Jeremy) Drielick, and Ashley Taylor; Grandchildren: Mindy (Cliff) Emery, Emily Hedrick, Mitchell Drielick, Sydney Taylor, and Lillian Drielick; Great Grandson, Cliffton “Little Man”; Sisters: Nancy Ramsey and Lucy Champlin; Sister-in-law, Shelley Taylor; Several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Fred was preceded in death by: Parents, Henry and Barbara; Brother, Lodge Taylor; Daughter, Kristi Hedrick. |
