GROVES, Erminia-Of Linden, age 71, died Monday, October 5, 2015 at her residence.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery.
Visitation 12 noon -8 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road.
Erminia was born in Flint, Michigan on January 27, 1944, the daughter of Juan and Carlotta (Soto) Martinez) and was a resident of the Flint area all of her life.
On March 16, 1964 she married James Groves.
She was Vice President of Spanish Speaking Information Center. She was on the Mayor’s Advisory Committee for Comcast Cablevision and Deputy Register and Juvenile Probate Court Clerk in Genesee County.
Erminia was on several committees to reflect U.S. Senator Don Reigle and Governor James Blanchard and was very active in politics.
Surviving are husband, James, happily married for 51 years;
three children, Lori Garcia and her special friend, Neal Sanchez,
James W., III and wife Ruby,
Anthony and friend Clarissa Molina;
mother, Carlotta Powell of Baraboo, WI;
10 grandchildren, Alexis Donnelly, Ryan, Jordan and Daylan Garcia, Anthony and Alejandro Groves, Matt Murdock, Krista Weber, Jason Yonan, Erica Stewart;
three great-grandchildren, Cason Weber, Gabriella and Roman Katrinic;
three brothers and one sister, John and Virginia Martinez of Flushing, MI, Mel and Margarita of Flint, MI, Henry and Joanie Martinez of Baraboo, WI and Mae and Joe Jiminez of Swartz Creek, MI;
brother-in-law, Bob and Bonnie Groves of North Edwards, CA
several nieces, nephews and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Juan Martinez and two
brothers, Juan Antonio and David Martinez.
The family extends a special thanks to her two grandsons, Ryan and Jordan Garcia.
