Age: 88
Community: Flint, MI

Pettigrew, Harry Allen, age 88, passed Monday, November 30, 2020 at the Regency of Grand Blanc.
Harry was born May 26, 1932 in Pocahontas, Arkansas to Glenn V. Pettigrew and Linnie E. (Starnes) Pettigrew. Harry was united in marriage to the love of his life, Marie Delores Wilson, on June 14, 1952. She preceded him in death on October 28 of this year. Harry was a timekeeper at Chevrolet Manufacturing for thirty years. He owned numerous apartment complexes in the Flint area and was the owner of Rube’s Bar, Ivor’s Place, and The Valley Pub. Harry had many many friends and his sense of humor made him beloved by many. There was nothing but fun and laughter when you spent a day with Harry.
Harry treasured his family and his three daughters always knew they could count on dad--his signature roses every Mother’s Day to his daughters will be one of the many treasured memories. Harry and Marie had a cottage on Runyan Lake in Fenton. The family made many memories there and Harry kept a keg in the shed for all his guests, and there were many. Harry loved his family, friends, but most importantly, he was a champion for those that struggled. He was a compassionate man who taught his daughters to accept others regardless of their faults and to always offer a helping hand. What a legacy to leave to your children. He never forgot to tip the fast food workers, no matter what his wait time was. Harry is survived by his beloved daughters Gayle (Daniel) Russ, and Lori (Michael) Ballance. His beloved grandchildren: Daniel (Kate) Russ, Chad Powell, Adam Russ, and Brianna Slavens, who had a very special relationship with her Papa. His great granddaughter, Faith, whom he loved to tease. His daughter, Janice Powell, preceded him in death. He is survived by two brothers. A heartfelt thank you to The Regency of Grand Blanc for the love and care you showered upon Harry--your kindness to him was such a comfort to the family. Donations can be made to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan in Harry’s honor. Due to Covid 19, there will be no service.
