POLKINGHORNE, Mary Catherine “Cathy” – of Mt. Morris, age 67, died peacefully at home on Saturday, October 24, 2020 with family by her side. Funeral services will be held at 11AM Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio. Pastor Drew Jolly officiating. Burial at Crestwood Cemetery in Grand Blanc. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1PM until 8PM, and Wednesday from 10AM until the time of service at 11AM. Memorial contributions may be made to the family for future designation.
Cathy was born August 13, 1953 in Flint, Michigan to the late Richard and Eleanor (Fox) Shields. She graduated from Villa Linde High School in 1969. Cathy married Daniel Polkinghorne on January 23, 1981. She was a hairdresser and owned & operated her own hair salon for many years. Cathy enjoyed singing, songwriting, cosmetology, and ceramics. She was an awesome cook and left behind many recipes for her family to enjoy. Above all, Cathy loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving are: Loving husband, Daniel Polkinghorne; Children: Daniel (Rhonda) Polkinghorne Jr., Amy (David) Scarborough, Dougie Polkinghorne, Jamie (Dawn) Butcher, Patrick (Michelle) Polkinghorne, and Akayah Polkinghorne; Grandchildren: Nathan, Ryan (Abby), Brooke, Danny Jr., Dylan, Edward, Jessica, Ashleigh, Jazmine, Jonathan, Reta, Rhonda, Casey, and Jeff; 14 great grandchildren; Siblings: Pamela Zue, and Rod Stevens; Several nieces, nephews, other loving family members, friends, and neighbors. Cathy was also preceded in death by: Son, Ryan T. Polkinghorne; Grandmother, Mary Albright.
