CHILDERS, Harold “Wes” Jr. – of Clio, age 63, died Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at his residence. Cremation has taken place. Friends may call at the O’Guinn Family Funeral Home in Clio on Saturday from 12-8PM. Graveside services at Great Lakes National Cemetery will be held at a later date. Contributions may be made to the Vietnam Veterans of America, Genesee County Chapter #175, c/o Mary Childers, PO Box 146, Clio, MI 48420.
Wes was born September 4, 1951 in Flint to the late Harold and Ester (Long) Childers. He was a resident of Clio for over 28 years. Wes served in the USMC from 1968 to 1972. He retired from Allied Transport in 2009 with 25 years seniority. He was a member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Genesee County Chapter #175 and the Teamsters. He loved golfing and playing basketball.
Surviving are: wife, Mary; children: Jeff (Cathy) Childers of Grand Blanc, Amy (Matthew) Riselay of Holly, Daniel Childers of Clio; grandchildren: Sid, Darwin, Lexi, Ally and Kate; siblings: Daniel Childers, Mike (Cheryl) Childers, Diana Chappel and Deborah (A.J.) Faught; many nieces and nephews; special niece Rachel Ann VanBuren; special friends: Larry, Jim, Dave, Bob, Barry, John and Ray.
