Shana Marie Emery, 44, of Grand Blanc, Michigan, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, at Hurley Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 1pm on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, followed by cremation.
Visitation will be held from 11am Wednesday until the time of service at the funeral home.
She was born on May 7, 1982, in Flint, Michigan, to her loving mother, Debra Bester.
Shana grew up in Flint and attended Genesee Intermediate School, graduating in 2008. Throughout her life, she lived with cerebral palsy, a condition she faced with remarkable strength, courage, and determination. Shana was a true fighter whose resilience inspired everyone who knew her. Despite the challenges she encountered, she lived a full, meaningful, and joyful life surrounded by the love of family and friends.
Shana had a passion for traveling, watching television, listening to music, going to the movies, and taking walks. She especially loved spending time with her family. Known for her beautiful smile, infectious laughter, and vibrant personality, Shana had a gift for bringing joy to those around her. Her kindness, sense of humor, and loving spirit touched countless lives.
Shana is survived by her devoted mother, Debra Bester; her sister, Tameka (Ernest) Gloster; special sisters, Ashley Johnson and Ashley Batten; her step-father Vincent Robinson, her aunts and uncles, Brenda Hill, Sandra Emery, Karen (Chris) Harold, KC Young and Dorothy Reeves; her nephew, E’Shon (Hunter) Gloster; her nieces, Cierra, ChiAnne, and Cianna Gloster; her nephews, Avion and Adrian Gloster; her great-nephews, Hudson Sylvester and Hemingway Gloster; her great-niece, Promyse Owens; and her cousins, Bonita Huston, Regina (Curtis) Yarbourgh Terrance (Shaunise) Emery, Katrina (Kenneth) Talton, Antwon Emery, and Kenita Harold. Host of other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Earl and Mon Sue Emery; her loved ones, Kathleen Emery and Hope Gloster; and her beloved pets, Gorgeous and Diamond.
As a final act of generosity and love, Shana gave the gift of life through organ donation. By donating her heart and kidneys, she provided hope and healing to others, ensuring that her caring spirit and legacy will continue to live on. Even in her passing, Shana’s selflessness touched the lives of others and reflected the kindness and compassion that defined her life.
Those who knew Shana will remember her for her strength, beauty, generosity, kindness, and unwavering spirit. She loved to laugh, smile, and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. Her impact on the lives of her family, friends, and community will be cherished and remembered for years to come.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Debra and Tameka, the dedicated staff at Hurley Medical Center, and all friends and family members who provided support, love, and care throughout Shana’s life.
Shana will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Though she is no longer with us, her smile, laughter, courageous spirit, and lasting gift of life will remain in the hearts of those who loved her forever.
