PIERSON, Darlene Marie - Of Goodrich, age 78, died Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at her residence.
A private family service will be held and a Celebration of Life will also be held at a later date.
Contributions may be made to the Genesee County Humane Society.
Darlene was born in Flint on August 1, 1942, the daughter of the late Donald and Dorine (Phaneuf) Buyack. She attended Flint schools until her family moved to Goodrich, Michigan at the age of 16. She and her life partner, Rod Pierson, graduated together from Goodrich High School in 1960. Darlene and Rod were married in East Lansing, Michigan on May 27, 1961 while Rod was attending Michigan State University at the College of Veterinary Medicine. Darlene was a wonderful and caring partner with Rod for nearly 60 years. They had four children, fourteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. They had a full and busy life with their wonderful extended family in Davison and later in Goodrich, on part of the Pierson Family farm. Darlene always worked hard while helping others. She was very involved in community service and fund raising with Zonta International, Genesee County Humane Society, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Davison Child Study and other worthy projects. She was the owner of Rose Cottage Boutique and 2 other different retail clothing stores, as well as Senior Director of Mary Kay Cosmetics and finished her working career as office manager for Rod’s practice at Pierson Veterinary Hospital.
Surviving are husband, Rodney Pierson;
daughter, Kim (Lenny) Jaskulka and their children, Lindsay (Matt) Holt, Morgan (Delbert) Davis and Madison Hanson;
son, Scott Pierson and his children, Jacob (fiancé Ashley) Pierson and Jesse Pierson;
daughter, Kelly (George) Mansour and their children, George, Maximillian, Isaac, Zachariah, Eliza and Gabriel;
daughter, Kerri Flores and her children, Megan (Dustin) Martin, Tyler Reed and Kaden Flores;
12 great-grandchildren;
sisters, Diane (Ross) Mann and Dawn (Glenn) Shaw, Bridget (Duane) Hastedt;
brother, Mark (Christina) Buyack;
step-mother, Clara Buyack;
sisters-in-law, Linda (Joe) Sefa and Janet (Verlon) Burt.
